Napper Centre Open Day, Saturday 7th November
The Napper Centre is holding its monthly Open Day. It’s free and open to everyone all day, with no ticket or booking needed just to look around.
Volunteers are also leading guided tours through the day, covering the building’s history from 15th-century cottage to England’s first cottage hospital.
Step inside one of Cranleigh’s most historic buildings. Built in 1445 as a hall house from local oak, the Napper Centre went on to become England’s first cottage hospital, founded by Dr Albert Napper in 1859. After a restoration that began in December 2025, it’s open to explore.
Find us: 6 The High Street, Cranleigh. Parking is at Village Way Car Park.
Looking ahead: The centre now hosts regular classes, including yoga, U3A and Pilates, as well as wreath-making workshops and room hire for local groups.

Inviting the new season with Inner Light Sunday 25th October 2026 6.30-8.00pm
I look forward to hosting this seasonal sound journey. Falling on the last day of summertime, I’d like to invite you to welcome the shorter, darker days with me, with breath work, meditation and sound. A chance to relax, restore and recharge. The session will conclude with homemade chai and a chance to connect.
Join me for my first sound journey event at the beautifully restored England’s first cottage hospital. We will be in the Napper Room, named after the founder and local surgeon, Dr Albert Napper. A space for wellness continues here at the centre, a building full of history, built in 1445 as a hall house from local oak, carrying on his vision of providing the local community with well-being and care.
Limited spaces, £25. Contact: caroline@theyogasanctuary.yoga
Classes being run in the Napper Centre include Spanish Conversation, Bridge, Photography and Talking Arts.
